On Being a Servant

Richard C. Close Photographer, Writer and Global Learning Strategist

Richard grew up in Westchester with yacht clubs, topsiders, Izod shirts and the museums of New York.  In ninth grade feel in love with art, theatre design and directing. Was encouraged to follow up on art, yet ignored that advice for spiritual pursuits.

For years he searched through new age schools and Yogi’s to unravel the mystery of the cruelty of life verses that of love and mercy. In his photography and writings he unravels the mysteries and lives of many people around us whose merciful hands silently elevated the human experience.

For 20 years he worked in marketing, strategy and branding in the software training business. Later developed a small team providing strategy, branding and marketing strategies for such firms as IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and Dot COM companies. Was conference speaker on the topics of distance learning. During all that time something deep inside told him he should use his skills for a higher causes.

On a trip to Zambia Africa he was encouraged to place his photography and writings in both Gallery and book forms. He has written two photographic donation books available on Amazon.com “The Beatitudes” and “Inside the Gospel Rescue Mission.” Profits for these books go to the missions.

The inside Mission Gallery you see here helps raise awareness for the positive side in working with the poor. One third of the sales for each picture goes back to the location the picture was taken.

Richard’s company the Chrysalis Campaign builds Internet communities for organizations working with the poor both in the US and Africa. It is currently teaming up with Ann to build a cyber community for call Artists with a Cause. This community will give artists a place to display their work in full multimedia and tell the stories on how they are giving back. This Facebook like community will then be an inspirational teaching tool of K-12 teachers.
